Kybella
Kybella is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for permanently destroying fat cells under the chin. At Skinovatio Medical Spa in Parma, Ohio, we use Kybella to help patients achieve a more defined jawline and eliminate double chin without surgery.
What is Kybella?
Kybella contains synthetic deoxycholic acid, a molecule that naturally occurs in the body to help absorb fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys fat cells permanently, resulting in a noticeable reduction in submental fullness.
How Kybella Works
Kybella is injected directly into the fat under your chin. The deoxycholic acid destroys fat cell membranes, and your body naturally processes and eliminates these cells over the following weeks. Once destroyed, these fat cells cannot store or accumulate fat.
Treatment Process
- Consultation to assess your chin profile
- Customized treatment plan (typically 2-4 sessions)
- Sessions spaced at least 1 month apart
- 20-30 minute treatment sessions
- Gradual improvement over weeks
What to Expect
Swelling is the most common side effect and can be significant for the first week. Some patients experience numbness, bruising, and firmness. Results become visible as swelling resolves, with optimal results seen after your treatment series is complete.
Are You a Candidate?
Kybella is ideal for patients with moderate to severe submental fullness (double chin) who want a non-surgical solution. It’s not appropriate for patients with very loose skin, as fat reduction without skin tightening can lead to laxity.
Permanent Results
Once Kybella destroys fat cells, they’re gone permanently. As long as you maintain a stable weight, your results should be long-lasting.
